Tudno Street
Tudno Street was the first street built in the ‘modern’ Llandudno around the 1840s, from where Llandudno expanded under the guidance of Lord Mostyn to the grand Victorian resort which we have today.
Before this Llandudno was a small mining village with only a few hundred inhabitants. Both the town, and the street the pubs sits on, derive their names from the parish they belong to, that of ‘Saint Tudno’ (pronounced Tidno) Llan loosely translating as parish of. This in turn derives its name is the patron saint of Llandudno the founder of the original parish church in 6th century. Nothing remains of this original structure, but the todays 12th century church stands on the same site on the windswept northerly cliffs of the Great Orme headland.
